Exports fall worse than expected


PHILIPPINE merchandise exports saw their worst month in two years last December, plunging by a fifth due to a steep decline in electronics shipments that resulted in a 6.9% full-year contraction for 2011.

OUTBOUND merchandise shipments likely dropped anew last month but at a slower pace, the head of an exporters group yesterday said ahead of the release of data expected to cement an overall 2011 contraction.
